TORI SPELLING BIOGRAPHY |
 |
| |
Victoria Davey "Tori" Spelling (born May 16,
1973 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress. She is
perhaps best known for her role as Donna Martin in the 1990s
teen soap opera Beverly Hills 90210.
Spelling was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of
Candy Marer (born Carole Gene Marer[ and the late Aaron Spelling,
a famed television producer with the ABC network in the 1970s.
Spelling comes from a liberal Jewish family, for example the
family celebrated Christmas while growing up. She is a graduate
of Harvard-Westlake School. Her brother Randy Spelling is an
actor as well.
Spelling appeared in a number of guest roles (mostly in her
father's shows) such as The Love Boat, T.J. Hooker, Hotel,
Fantasy Island, Vega$, and Saved by the Bell before landing a
regular part in Beverly Hills 90210, a series co-produced by her
father and Darren Star. Often described as having a limited
acting range, there was much speculation that she landed the
90210 role through her father's influence. She claimed to have
undergone an audition for the role under an assumed name - Toria
Mitchell.
Since 90210 went off the air, Spelling has worked primarily on
independent films including Trick and The House of Yes, although
she has appeared in small roles in mainstream films, including
Scream 2 and Scary Movie 2.
Currently, Spelling is the star of the VH1 celebreality sitcom-based
reality show called So NoTORIous.
After her father's death in 2006, she is set to inherit a
proportion of her father's $500 million estate. The estate is to
be divided primarily between her, her brother and her father's
second wife. However, Candy Spelling is the executor, and recent
reports have Tori inheriting just $800,000. Her brother also
gets $800,000 but is not estranged from his mother.
In December 2005, she became engaged to actor Dean McDermott.
McDermott had also filed for divorce from his spouse, Mary Jo
Eustace, with whom he has children, Jack Montgomery (born
October 1998) and Lola (born July 2005). Spelling and McDermott
met on the set of the TV movie Mind Over Murder. Spelling
married Dean McDermott in Fiji on May 6, 2006. The wedding was
held on the beach, and they were barefoot.
During an appearance at the 2006 MuchMusic Video Awards in
Toronto on June 18, 2006, Spelling addressed Eustace's recently
published tell-all book. While onstage with Matte Babel Spelling
was asked if she found it better dating a Canadian. Spelling
replied by saying "they are much nicer and have nasty ex-wives
who write tell-all books." Spelling and Eustace apparently had a
catfight in the gift lounge.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about her prospects for
children, Spelling said it was good that Dean had a younger wife
(an allusion to the fact that his first wife was older) as she
(Tori) could give him lots of children. Dean has stated that he
wants a hockey squad. |
